Shymkent Intl Airport serves South Kazakhstan Province.
In 2007 the Airport Authority has reconstructed the runway, it become 3500 meters long and was covered by modern concrete slabs. The modernization allows the Airport to accept Ilyushin Il-76 and Antonov An-124 Ruslan aircraft.
